MET GALA 2014 | Charles James

MET GALA 2014

For this year's theme, it's all about CHARLES JAMES. Now who exactly is he? He's a famous Anglo-American couturier born July 18, 1906. He died September 23, 1978 as "America's First Couturier".

This British-born designer had fascinations on complex cut, and iconic ball gowns in the late 1940's and early 1950's.

And in this year's MET, it's all about him and his marvelous legacy. Let's take a look what this year guests wore.

1. Cropped Tops

(L to R: Anna Kendrick, Anne Hathaway, Cara Delevingne, Rihanna)
Girls trying to be "modern" entered the red carpet with cropped tops. And good thing it looked good on them. Elegant and Modern. Perfect combination.. I just wonder if Cara Delevingne got the memo for "Charles James" theme... Though the "black and white" nailed it.

2. Full Skirts

(L to R, Row 1: Hayden Panettier, Karolina Kurkova, Katie Holmes
Row 2: Sandra Lee, Sarah Jessica Parker, Sarah Silverman & Michael Sheen
Row 3: Arizona Muse, Maggie Q, Liu Wen
Row 4: Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen, Hailee Stanfield, Karlie Kloss)

YES! Indeed... sooo Charles James. :) Great job girls. Though I'm not sure about the Olsen Twins, well at least they tried.

3. Mermaids

(L to R, Row 1: Charlize Theron, Diva Von Teese, Zoe Saldana
Row 2: Kendall Jener, Selena Gomez, Toni Garn)

Under the sea? Strutting their stuff with mermaid cuts, was simply elegant.

4. Nude

(L to R, Row 1: Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Rachel McAdams
Row 2: Rita Ora, Suki Waterhouse, Taylor Swift
Row 3: Johnny Depp & Amber Heard)

Nothing goes wrong with NUDE. It is elegant and "safe". Makes you look young and modern. It simply goes with anything.

5. Plain Confusing...

(L to R, Row 1: Jay Z & Beyonce, Gabrielle Union, Kristen Stewart
Row 2: Lupita Nyongo, Michelle Williams, Shailene Woodley)

Really can't say much about them... But they confused me with Charles James meets Katy Perry's ROAR. What happened here, really?

And to my favorite, yes I'm a fan. It wasn't EXACTLY very "Charles James" but who cares... This was just... EPIC. Great job Kirsten Dunst. #StarWars
